Why we exist
We are fostering a gospel-centered community of students and leaders who know God, follow Jesus, and love their neighbors through worship, relationships, service projects, and Biblical teaching.
Our High School staff
Stephen Trafton | Youth Ministry Director
Stephen has lived in New York City since 2006 and currently lives with his wife and two children in Astoria. He grew up in Bowling Green, KY and earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre. Upon moving to NYC, Stephen performed in the Broadway Cast of Les Miserables and in the National Touring Cast of Phantom of the Opera. In 2012, he launched a non-profit ministry called Living Letters, which brings Scripture to life in a whole new way and he travels regularly performing Scripture at churches around the country. Stephen joined the Redeemer staff as Youth Ministry Coordinator in 2013 and became the Youth Ministry Director in 2017.
In his role, Stephen leads and oversees the West Side Youth Community which includes both lay leaders and students. It excites him to see students explore Christianity, begin to take ownership of their faith in Jesus, connect with adult mentors, and love and serve the city. He loves meeting with students, engaging in discussion and exploration of the Bible, leading worship with other students and leaders, and going on mission trips. Favorite hobbies include soccer, guitar, running, theatre, and spike ball.
Adrian Acevedo | Youth Ministry Coordinator
Adrian was born and raised in New York City, predominantly in Harlem. She was very involved in Redeemer Youth Group as a middle and high school student. After graduating from University of Delaware with a degree in Interpersonal Communication and Human Development, she joined the West Side Youth Ministry staff where she oversees administration and logistics for weekly programming and special events. She also leads a High School Girls Group and meets one-on-one with students to provide mentoring and discipleship. When she's not working, Adrian loves to cook and eat, enjoy good coffee and music, and explore the awesome city she calls home.
